Integrity Labels Strengthens Control of Colour in Production with Pulse’s PureTone DC flexo inks and Monolox Solution

Integrity Labels and Pule Roll Labels

Integrity Labels, based in Midsomer Norton, England, is a specialist manufacturer of self-adhesive labels, serving a wide range of customers with high-quality printed solutions. Using a combination of UV flexographic and digital print processes, Integrity Labels is known for precision, flexibility, and reliable delivery.

In early 2025, the business began searching for ways of bringing more control of colour management back in-house with the primary goal being to reduce press downtime.

As a BRCGS approved facility, low migration capability was an essential requirement for any ink used on site along with the desire to adopt the latest LED curing flexo inks to futureproof and provide opportunity for further process improvement.

To address the issue, Lewis Hand, Managing Director at Integrity Labels, led the search for a solution.

Turning to a Trusted Partner

Lewis contacted Pulse Roll Label Products, located in Bristol, England, a supplier that Integrity Labels had worked with previously and consistently had positive experiences with.

“We already had a great relationship with Charlie Tomsett, Pulse’s Regional Business Manager, and this gave us confidence they could offer the level of service and support we need,” said Lewis. “Being local to us is also a big plus, as it means they can be more responsive and hands-on, which is something we really value.”

After reviewing Integrity’s challenges, Pulse proposed their PureTone® DC flexo ink, a dual cure FPC flexo ink system and Monolox® fixed volume anilox solution.

A Simpler, More Reliable Approach to Colour

The PureTone® flexo inks and Monolox® approach enables printers to achieve colour more reliably while using a single anilox volume. This along with appropriate pre-press colour management tools and processes brings multiple operational benefits, including simplified job setup and reduced anilox inventory.

For Integrity Labels, the advantages were immediate:

  • Colours right first time on press
  • Increased press uptime
  • Improved achievement of production plan
  • Futureproofed production with UV/LED dual cure FPC flexo ink system

Standardising on an anilox volume also reduced the number of different ink mixes created and stored in the ink room. This cut preparation time, lowered ink stock levels, and removed the need to hold jobs for colour adjustment.

As a result, production flowed more smoothly, the production plan was achieved more reliably, and customer orders were fulfilled without last-minute pressure.

Careful Preparation, Seamless Changeover

Before making any changes in production, Integrity Labels and Pulse invested time in careful preparation. This planning phase was essential to ensuring a smooth transition and was completed without impacting Integrity’s workload.

The actual conversion to the new inks and processes was completed within a week.

Production didn’t miss a beat.

“Changing over inks can feel like a huge task,” Lewis explained. “It’s a big shift and, in many ways, it can seem like you’re starting from scratch. Pulse stepped up during that process, offering hands-on support and working closely with us to rebuild our library of existing work.”

Building Confidence and Capability

While some new processes were introduced, these were planned and supported throughout. The change has helped steer Integrity Labels toward its goal of tighter colour control and more predictable production.

“That’s not only down to Pulse’s guidance,” Lewis continued, “but also to the fantastic efforts of our team at Integrity Labels. They’ve adapted brilliantly to an entirely new process flow, getting to grips with the new equipment and developing their expertise incredibly quickly.”

When reflecting on how it went for Pulse, Charlie Tomsett comments ‘We’re pleased to have been invited to help Integrity Labels with our PureTone® DC FPC flexo inks and Monolox® system. It’s been a great project to work on with Lewis and the team. Lewis was clear with the objectives that he wanted to achieve, and I’m pleased to see that our collaboration is delivering clear results that are benefiting Integrity Labels’

The Result

By taking back full control of their pre-press colour management processes Integrity Labels is seeing their ultimate goal of reduced press downtime being realised, alongside the additional benefits of improved control of press performance, reduced waste, and improved production reliability — all while easing pressure on their team.

For a modern label manufacturer combining UV flexo and digital print, the changes have delivered both technical consistency and operational confidence.
